On December 9, 2009, the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) is opening its doors to more of the world’s most prestigious as it launches its new facilities and equipment. The first international convention center in Asia, it is an architectural landmark that continues to present the best of the Philippines to the world.
Designed by National Artist Leandro V. Locsin, the PICC opened in 1976 to host the World Bank-International Monetary Fund annual meeting. It has since hosted numerous events such as political summits, medical conventions and concerts of international artists, establishing it as one of the most versatile event arenas in the Asia Pacific region. Its five building modules (Delegation Building, Secretariat Building, Plenary Hall, Reception Hall and The PICC Forum) offer a versatility to allow a variety of settings for any kind of exhibition, convention or event.
This December, the PICC is unveiling its new facilities as part of its upgrading and rehabilitation program. Aside from refurbishing of existing facilities and installation of high-tech equipment, these include six new meeting rooms on the 4th floor of the Delegation Building, ranging from 52 sq.m. up to about 760 sq.m., which offer seating capacities from 12 to 800 people, suitable for both business and social events. The rooms feature a totally different and modern look, some with operable
walls that allow independent or joint use. Adjacent to these is a social deck overlooking Manila Bay and the city skyline,offering a scenic outdoor venue for functions.
Aside from these, two banquet halls can be found on the 5th floor of the Delegation Building. With an area of approximately 738 sq.m., e East Banquet Hall can accomodate 460 people, while the 674 sq.m. West Banquet Hall can hold 420.
The 4th and 5th floors of the Delegation Building combined can serve as a meeting venue for a group as large as 700 people, fully equipped with complete meeting facilities.
With its new additions and strategic location in the heart of Manila, the PICC remains the top venue choice of clients for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and
other special events. PICC remains to be the largest convention and meeting facility in the country and has the most number of convention and meeting venues.
It guarantees that the events it hosts are served by hospitable and efficient professionals, using world-class conferencing equipment and facilities. After 33 years, the PICC is still host to the world.
