JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Auditor supports the Auditor to provide independent and objective assurance that improve governance, risk management, and internal control systems. The Assistant Auditor also assists in planning, executing, and reporting audit engagements, ensuring compliance with laws, rules and regulations, while promoting efficiency, economy, and ethical conduct in the Center’s operations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drafts annual audit plans and engagement plans for review and approval of the Auditor;
  • Performs financial, compliance, performance, and IT audits to assess adequacy of internal controls and risk management practices;
  • Prepares drafts internal audit reports for review and approval of the Auditor;
  • Monitors implementation of audit recommendations and reports on corrective actions taken;
  • Identifies training needs of internal audit staff and recommends professional development programs; and
  • Perform related tasks as may be assigned by the Auditor or by law.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS/QUALIFICATION GUIDE

Education:

Bachelor’s degree relevant to the job:

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Professional Certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) are advantageous

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in internal auditing, financial management, compliance, or risk assessment:
    • Exposure to government processes such as procurement, budgeting and asset management
    • Familiarity with MICE industry operations is beneficial

Competencies and Skills:

  • Analytical thinking and has the ability to assess risks and evaluate controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in accounting, auditing standards, IT systems and government regulations.
  • Planning and executing audits efficiently within timeline
  • Building constructive relationships with auditees while maintaining independence
