JOB SUMMARY
The Shift Supervising Technician for Building Facilities of the Mechanical Services Division is responsible for the supervision of Mechanical Foreman Technician, Senior Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Technician and Maintenance Contractors and/or doing technician’s work for the operation, maintenance, repair and installation of all air conditioning systems and equipment, ventilation systems, building management systems, refrigeration and kitchen equipment and drinking fountains, elevators and escalators and other equipment that may be assigned from time to time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Building Facilities Officer in the operation, maintenance, repair/troubleshooting of air conditioning systems – chillers, chiller and condenser pumps, cooling towers, air handling units and allied equipment, packaged and window air conditioning units, water pumps, ventilation equipment/systems, refrigeration and kitchen equipment, and building management systems.
- Leads shifting work operations.
- Determines types of workers to do the required jobs, and the supplies, parts and materials needed to accomplish work programs.
- Assigns/delegates work to subordinates according to their duties/responsibilities and/or ability.
- Develops cooperation and coordination among co-workers as a team.
- Develops, understudies and trains co-workers/subordinates to continue improving their skills needed for the job and higher responsibility.
- Executes effective instructions from management/superior, plans/programs and assigned tasks at minimum cost without compromising safety.
- Prepares plans and daily schedules for team works and activities, emergency and safety.
- Prepares reports and keeps operation and maintenance records.
- Evaluates job performance of subordinates and prepares appraisal reports in accordance with approved or prescribed policies, objectives and standards.
- Coordinates with and/or supervises contractors rendering services directly affecting the Division or assigned tasks.
- Assists and/or prepares project scope of works, bill of materials and cost estimates, and requisitions for needed services and materials.
- Perform such other duties, responsibilities, and special assignments as may be assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Education
- Graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Certified Plant Mechanic License
- Must be a Licensed/Registered Mechanical Engineer
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in HVAC operation, maintenance, repair, servicing, and installation of centralized, packaged, and VRF/VRV air-conditioning systems, particularly Daikin air-conditioning systems, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory position
Training
- Training in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, pumps and cooling towers, refrigeration systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS), preferably with familiarity in VRF/VRV air-conditioning systems
