The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was given citations by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) for its budget allocation for Gender and Development (GAD) programs and projects in Fiscal Years 2019 and 2020.
Based on the annual GAD Budget Reports published by the Philippine Commission on Women on its website, the PICC’s GAD budget allocation for FY 2019 is the ninth-highest among Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCC) without annual budgetary support or appropriations from the national government, while in FY 2020, it was ranked as 10th in the list of GOCCs with GAD-attributed programs.
PICC allocated Php 6.7 million to implement GAD projects in 2019, particularly for the conduct of capacity development and awareness programs, and participation in PCW-organized programs.
In 2020, PICC allocated P3.6 million of its budget for GAD-attributed programs.
This report is prepared by PCW annually to monitor government’s compliance to the GAD budget policy and the RA 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women (MCW) through review of consolidated PCW-endorsed GAD Plan and Budget and Accomplishment Reports submitted by government agencies and GOCCs through the Gender Mainstreaming Monitoring System (GMMS), as well as related previous reports. It is then submitted and presented to the Congress and the Office of the President, copy furnished with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Commission on Audit (COA) and the concerned government agency.
The inclusion of PICC in the said reports affirm the dedication of its Management and GAD Focal System in establishing gender-responsive services and facilities in the Center.
