The Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) was honored for itscontinued commitment to environmental stewardship by the Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI) during the Annual Million Trees Challenge Recognition and Commitment Ceremony: Honoring 2024 Achievements and 2025 Pledging, held on July 2, 2025, at the Celebrity Sports Plaza, Diliman, Quezon City.

Represented by Atty. Melan M. Espela (Director, Administrative Department) and Ms. Ivon Joyce E. Bacal (Grounds Maintenance Coordinator), the PICC received the “Kasangga ng Kalikasan” award for donating 1,020 narra saplings from 2023 to 2024. During the same event, PICC pledged to deepen its commitment to reforestation and environmental conservation by donating an additional 2,000 narra saplings to MTFI in the 4th quarter of 2025.

This is the second consecutive year that PICC was recognized by MTFI and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for its active support to the A Million Trees Challenge (AMTC). In July 2024, the PICC was given a plaque of recognition for donating 2,250 narra saplings and leading tree-planting initiatives at the La Mesa Watershed, as well as for encouraging employee participation in environmental activities.

Each year, management and staff take part in Earth Day seed-sowing activities, nurturing seedlings that are later donated to government and private institutions for greening projects.

These initiatives are part of PICC’s ongoing commitment to promote sustainability. Through partnerships with organizations such as the Million Trees Foundation, Inc., PICC continues to affirm its role as not only a premier events venue but also an advocate of environmental responsibility.
